Brain Highways on Facebook

Program Clarifications

  1. Brain Highways is not a medical program, nor are its activities or movements considered therapy.

  2. Brain Highways is only an educational program intended to provide information, movements, and activities related to brain development.

  3. It would be a gross misrepresentation of the Brain Highways program to use information acquired in classes or support materials as the basis for identifying a child as having a learning disability or in need of placement in Special Education classes.

  4. It would be a gross misrepresentation of the Brain Highways program to use information acquired in classes or support materials as the basis for challenging a medical diagnosis or changing treatment prescribed by a medical professional.

  5. To ensure that the Brain Highways Center does not present any financial burden on the schools, Brain Highways will not accept payment from school districts for an enrollment of an individual child in program classes or for other services.  This includes, but is not limited to, children in Special Education and children who have been assessed by a Student Study Team.

  6. Brain Highways is intended to enhance, not replace, other interventions.

  7. Brain Highways makes no claims to "cure" or "fix" a child.

  8. Parent participants commit to facilitating the weekly At-Home Brain Highways program; child participants commit to doing it.

  9. If a child falls significantly behind the weekly minimal floor time requirement, Brain Highways staff reserves the right to ask the family to make up that missed time before returning to class. (Class activities are based on the assumption that a minimal amount of brain work has been completed.)

  10. Classes at the local Brain Highways Center are considered “game day”—in the sense that parents and kids also use this time to show what they’ve been practicing at home.

  11. In cases where “game day” shows that a parent has yet to implement our compliance piece at home (e.g. the child’s behavior is intentionally noncompliant or is disruptive or jeopardizes the safety of others during class), Brain Highways staff will create a specific at-home game plan for that family.  The family returns to class when they have met the goals of that plan. (Such families do not fall behind in the overall curriculum since they still receive the weekly online multimedia materials during this time.)

  12. Parents make other prior arrangements for siblings during class time; only the enrolled parent(s) and child are allowed in the Center when classes are in session.  This policy also applies to Drop-in sessions.

  13. Participants pay for the 8-week session in two payments and agree to pay the second payment regardless whether they continue to attend classes.

  14. Since Brain Highways is not a medical or a childcare program, course fees are not applicable to insurance reimbursement or employer flex plans.

  15. In case of absences, participants email julie@brainhighways.com.  Only family emergencies and illnesses are considered excused absences.

  16. The participating parents must attend a parent-only evening class prior to the beginning of the session.  Failure to attend may jeopardize the child's enrollment in the program.

  17. Each individual parent assumes full responsibility and liability for deciding whether the program information is valid, relevant, and applicable to his or her child.

  18. Each individual parent assumes full responsibility and liability for ensuring his or her child's safety during class sessions, while doing program activities at home, and when doing program activities in all other environments.

  19. Parent participants acknowledge that all Brain Highways materials are copyrighted and the duplication of such materials without written permission is an infringement of copyright law.

  20. If there’s difficulty receiving the multimedia materials due to a technical problem not created by Brain Highways (e.g. a compatibility problem unique to a particular version of a computer), parents either contact their computer manufacturer for assistance or use/borrow another person’s computer to get their materials. There is no expectation that Brain Highways staff will make special accommodations to deliver materials in a way that differs from sending the weekly multimedia link.

  21. Parent participants do not send their weekly multimedia link/materials to anyone else.

  22. Parent participants understand that they may no longer receive their weekly link if they share that and/or the multimedia materials with others who are not currently enrolled in the course. In such case, there is no refund or credit.

  23. Brain Highways facilitators reserve the right to dismiss a parent and child from the program if such participants do not honor any of these established policies. In such case, there is no refund or credit.
